If you’re looking to become a professional raft guide, then it’s important to go through the right training. This training is essential to learning the skills and knowledge needed to be a safe and successful guide.

Raft guide training is typically a multi-week course that covers a variety of topics. The courses focus on teaching the basics of rafting, such as navigating rivers, reading water, risk management, and safety protocols. You’ll also learn about the different types of rafts, how to rig and unrig them, and how to handle them in different river conditions.

You’ll also get hands-on practice in the water. You’ll be taught how to properly paddle a raft, how to rescue swimmers, and how to set up a safe and efficient camp. This is all in preparation for leading your own trips.

In addition to the practical skills, you’ll also learn about the history of rafting, the ecology of rivers, and the importance of Leave No Trace principles.

At the end of the course, you’ll take a written and practical exam that tests your knowledge and skills. Once you’ve passed, you’ll be issued a raft guide certification.
